On Friday the Civil Atomic Russian Fleet celebrates its 45th anniversary. "Its history started on the 3rd of December 1959, when the state flag was raised on the first ice – breaker of the Russian Civil Atomic Fleet "Lenin"." "Russia having the longest territory of the arctic coast in the world didn’t have any other choice during polar exploration, but to create the Northern Fleet, that would be able to function under very severe conditions. Forty-five years of its stable exploitation shows that this strategy came up to our expectations," specialists of the Murmansk Shipping Company noticed. Nowadays the reconstruction is being held on board the icebreaker "Lenin" and it would become the museum of Exploration of Arctic and Northern Sea Route. All works are planned to be finished by November 2005. Beside the museum, the creation of the Analytical Information Center of Radioactive Security and business-center is expected.
