On the 15th of December it is planned to organize the concert of the Honored Artist of Russia Georgy Garanyan in the regional philharmonic society. Georgy Garanyan is going to perform together with the soloists of the ensemble "Melody". The event of such importance in the regional philharmonic society plays an immense role in the cultural life of the region. In spite of more than 10-year interval in work, the fame of Georgy Garanyan and the ensemble is exceptional even nowadays. In 2005 the patriarch of the national jazz, the laureate of the state prize, Georgy Garanyan celebrates his 70th anniversary. It is almost impossible to overestimate the impact of his music on the modern national musical culture. His name is connected with the jazz orchestra of Oleg Lundstrem, where he started his creative activities, and nowadays Georgy Garanyan is the conductor of this well-known orchestra. For more than 20 years Georgy Garanyan headed the State Symphony Cinematography Orchestra and together with this orchestra they recorded tracks for more than 150 movies. For 10 years maestro was the conductor in "The circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard" of Yury Niikulin. Quite an important role here also plays ensemble "Melody", headed by Georgy Garanyan. This ensemble has recorded wide range of pieces of music from soundtracks to fairy tales and famous Russian movies, to dance music and "serious" jazz compositions
This well-known among extreme sport lovers of the Murmansk region tourist club organized trophy – expedition "Saami village 2004" together with automotoclub from Revda "Alluaiv" to celebrate the end of the jeep-season. From the settlement Lovozero the participants traveled upon the ice to the saami-shelter on Elovy island. One of the stage of the expedition was the so-called "Blind racing", when the driver, with eyes blindfolded was to move along the route, following the navigator’s instructions. The sponsors of the expedition were tourist firms "Lovozero Adventures" and "M-tour". According to the club leader, now "Northern bums " are going to work out in 2005 about 5 new jeep-routes and start pioneer the coast of the Barents Sea.
In Apatiti in January 2005 the traditional exhibition, called "From Christmas to Christmas" takes place. In 2005 the municipal exhibition has become regional. The works of the artists from Murmansk, Apatiti, Kirovsk, Monchegorsk, Kandalaksha are displayed here. Both well-known and unknown regional artists present their pictures in the exhibition. In January new works can be added to the exhibition.
