"Golden fund" of Severomorsk. That is how young people from Severomorsk, the winners of educational and creative contests, sport tournaments are called. It’s the forth time when the group of youngsters from Severomorsk goes to Finland to have rest. The first stop is in the zoo of Ranua. This is the biggest establishment of this kind beyond the Polar Circle. The main difference between this zoo and Russian zoos is that in Finland the animals live under the conditions, that are close to natural ones. For the wolves, for instance, there is special enclosure and they have the place to run. The Polar Bear feels absolutely free on his territory in the zoo. Finland is anyway the country of Northern Europe that’s why bears don’t suffer from heat. The lynx, wolf and wild boar live without any problems in the zoo in bondage, and noisy visitors don’t disturb them. The trip to the zoo is combined with the reindeer riding. For the citizens of the Kola Peninsula this manner of travelling may seem strange, but it doesn’t decrease the fun, the youngsters have. It is their award for the long hours of work and studies.
